這首歌我在去年 聖誕系列報導(1)─英國聖誕節的居家裝飾 有稍微介紹過，很長很長有怎麼都唱不完的感覺，但很有趣。
這首歌從聖誕假期(註1)的第一天開始唱，一直唱到第十二天，每增加一天就會把之前唱的也加進去。
上述歌詞中，" * "的地方一直重覆，" [ ] "符號內，依序是second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh 和twelfth。
例如，當"[ ]"符號內是"second"時，要接 "Two Turtle Doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!"
當"[ ]"符號內是"third"時，後接 "Three french hens, Two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear treel"。
總之原則就是一定要唱回第一天，所以越後面的天數歌就越長，因為要照順序倒數唱回第一天！如果上面的歌詞看起來太過複雜，我以另一種方式重新整理如下，看各位看官喜歡哪一種！
